
Lower Brule Man Sentenced on Burglary Charge

U.S. Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Lower Brule man charged with Third Degree Burglary and Aiding & Abetting was sentenced on April 5, 2011, by U.S. District Judge Roberto A. Lange. John Big Eagle, age 19, was sentenced to nine months in custody, two years of supervised release, and ordered to pay $925 in restitution. Big Eagle was indicted by a federal grand jury on September 14, 2010. The charge stems from the unlawful entrance into Tuffy's Bar and Grill where he took numerous bottles of liquor after unlawfully entering that business. This case was investigated by Bureau of Indian Affairs, Lower Brule Agency. Assistant U.S. Attorney Eric Kelderman prosecuted the case. Big Eagle was immediately turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshal. |
